Mohammad Amir Joins Kandahar Warriors as British Player, Without Needing PCB Clearance

Mohammad Amir will represent Kandahar Warriors in the Afghanistan Premier League as a British player, leaving him outside the Pakistan Cricket Board clearance requirement facing Pakistani players. The former Pakistan fast bowler was selected with the Warriors’ first pick in the draft’s platinum category.

Warriors Pick Amir in Platinum Category

The Afghanistan Premier League draft is taking place in Dubai. Kandahar Warriors added Amir to their squad through their first selection in the platinum category.

Amir registered for the competition as a British citizen and will participate under that status, rather than as a Pakistani player.

British Status Removes Clearance Requirement

Media reports say several Pakistani players have also registered for the league’s draft. Separately, sources say the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided against issuing no-objection certificates to Pakistani players for the competition.

That reported decision does not create the same clearance hurdle for Amir. Because he is a British citizen, he does not need a no-objection certificate from the Pakistan Cricket Board to take part.
