The Punjab Home Department has ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to halt internet access in some Lahore neighbourhoods.
The suspension of internet services in the aforementioned locations has hampered internet access and caused network problems throughout Lahore.
Internet services in Samanabad, Sheerakot, Nawankot, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Sabzazar, and Iqbal Town were suspended immediately by the PTA.
According to the police, the directive was issued in reaction to a protest in Lahore organised by a banned organisation.
