A world-class social networking framework for the public has been agreed by the federal government to build.
The application can include various features, including messages, voice calls and video calls, depending on the specifics.
Syed Amin-ul-Haque, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom said while speaking to a media outlet that the IT Ministry will establish the application before the end of the year.
The Minister added that the draught of the application will be submitted shortly before it is accepted by the federal cabinet and the production of the application will begin afterwards.
He noted that the application would not allow users to disseminate material that is obscene, unethical, sacrilegious and blasphemous.
The programme will initially be introduced in major cities and residents will have to include their telephone numbers and CNICs in order to register for the application.
