According to the latest estimates from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) and the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association, Pakistan’s textile exports soared to an all-time high of $6.04 billion in the first four months (July-October) of this fiscal year (2021-22), led by the value-added industry (APTMA).
According to a study issued in July-October last fiscal year, the country’s textile exports totaled $4.76 billion.
The main representative group of textile mills in the country, ATPMA, credited the extraordinary growth in textile exports to lower energy tariffs, which brought a significant cost relief to the textile sector.
“The energy tariff concessions helped the textile sector report substantial growth in exports,” Asif Inam, Chairman of the APTMA (South Zone), said.
In October of fiscal year 2021-22, exports of textile products increased by 25.6 percent compared to the same month the previous fiscal year, while exports of textile items increased by over 9% compared to $1.49 billion in September of the previous fiscal year.
