With a five-wicket win against England in the first semi-final in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, New Zealand advanced to the Twenty20 World Cup final. New Zealand chased down their 167-run victory target with one over to spare thanks to Daryl Mitchell’s unbeaten 72 and Jimmy Neesham’s late assault.
Former champions England won 166-4 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium after Moeen Ali batted 51 not out and Dawid Malan made 41.
When England batted, they were 67-2 at halfway through their innings and reached 100 in 14 overs, thanks to New Zealand’s tight bowling and great fielding. In his unbeaten 37-ball innings, Moeen hammered two sixes and three fours. On Thursday, Pakistan will meet Australia in the second semi-final.
