On robust demand, Pakistan saw record foreign exchange spending in 2020-21 on the highest-ever arrival of new automobiles, followed by a comeback of used vehicle imports.
In FY21, the government imported a total of 10,513 new automobiles, jeeps, vans, pickup trucks, two-wheelers, and buses, up from 1,680 in FY20, 3,716 in FY19, and 7,424 in FY18.
In addition, 390 new electric cars (EVs) and 19 used EVs were imported for the first time in FY21.
