Children will face jail and penalties if they kick their parents out of the house, according to Lahore high court

The Parents Protection Ordinance (PPO) 2021, as amended by the Lahore High Court, stipulates that children who evict their parents from their home face imprisonment and penalties.

According to Justice Ali Baqar Najafi’s written decision, no one can evict parents from their home, whether they are tenants or homeowners.

In clarifying Section 3 of the Protection of Parents Ordinance, 2021, the court stated that eviction of parents from a home by a child has been defined as an offence punishable by up to one year in prison, a fine, or both. Ali Muhammad Akram filed a petition against a court of law, which remanded his father’s application to the deputy commissioner with instructions to continue the legal procedure.
