According to Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Chief Executive Arif Ahmad Khan, Pakistan’s exports of goods and services will reach $38 billion in the current fiscal year, a record high in the country’s history.
He told a delegation of the Council of Economic and Energy Journalists on Wednesday that goods shipments to overseas markets increased by 18 percent in the first six months of fiscal year 2021-22, to $15 billion.
“The African market is getting a lot of interest since there are a lot of chances for different items to be exported to the continent,” he said. “Export potential exists for rice, pharmaceuticals, and IT products.”
He said that Pakistan has shipped rice worth $2.2 billion, and that this figure might rise to $5 billion with the implementation of sophisticated technologies in crop growth, harvesting, and processing.
