US decided to Punish ‘Disobedient’ Imran Khan: Says Russia

Russia’s Foreign Ministry spoke for the first time since Prime Minister Imran Khan accused the US of failing to cancel his February visit to the country.

According to the BBC, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US and its allies would put pressure on the Prime Minister of Pakistan when Prime Minister Imran Khan was due to visit Moscow in February 2022 to complete the pre-war visit to Ukraine.

The statement goes on to say that the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs summoned the Pakistani Ambassador to the US, Asad Majeed Khan, and pressured him to cancel the visit, but the pressure was rebuffed, and Imran Khan sat down to continue his plans.
