Shahid Khaqan Accepts Former Government Stance of Cheapest Petrol Prices in Pakistan as Compared to Other Countries

On Friday, PMLN leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that no country sells petrol for less than its original price.

Speaking at a press conference and former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Abbasi said that the current government is facing problems because of the previous government’s mismanagement. They have fixed the price of petrol at Rs 149, which is a drain on the Treasury.

Due to the PTI government’s policy of retaining tariffs on petroleum products, the remaining Rs 35,000 crore was paid through the Treasury.

“If interest rates stay the same until June, the government will have to pay 240 billion rupees from its funds. PTI set the interest rates to get cheap publicity,” he said while lashing out at the Imran Khan government’s order to hold interest until the next budget.

If Prime Minister Shehbaz had accepted Ogra’s summary, the petrol tariff would be set at 265 rupees and diesel at 235 rupees, Abbasi said.

Furthermore, he said that the previous government imposed the tariffs despite promising the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that they would climb you.
