Teachers Demand Rs. 1000 Monthly Fuel Subsidy for University Students

The President of the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Ibrahim Hasan Murad, stated that the recent increase in fuel prices would negatively affect the masses and create unprecedented pressure in almost all sectors of the economy, especially education.

He stated, “The increase in energy prices contributes to inflation, unemployment and psychological stress in the population”.

Ibrahim Murad found that knowledge-seeking students across Pakistan could not afford rising fuel prices.

He recommended that students and teachers get fuel at reduced prices to make learning and training more accessible.

He added, “Following the recent fuel price hike, 2 million college students should receive a monthly fuel allowance of Rs 1,000 throughout the year as it will boost student retention in higher education”.
