Sindh Government to Turn Karachi Parks into Solar Power

To promote electricity generation from alternative energy sources, the government of Sindh has decided to gradually convert parks in Karachi to solar energy.

Karachi Administrator and Sindh Government Spokesman Murtaza Wahab announced this here on Tuesday.

In a statement, Murtaza Wahab said the government would convert Kidney Hill Park and Safari Park to solar power in the first phase.

The move comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently announced scrapping the 17% general sales tax on solar panels to lower the country’s oil import bill.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced plans to gradually convert all international airports in Pakistan to solar power.

The aviation authority decided to convert the Karachi Jinnah International Airport to solar energy and commissioned the relevant authorities to develop a feasibility plan.
