Khurram Dastgir Federal Minister of Power has issued a statement that on the occasion of Eidul Azha, the duration of power outage will be decreased but loadshedding will not be ended.
Press Conference held in Gujranwala today, Power Minister Khurram Dastgir said that due to current situation loadshedding could not be ended; however, a reduced duration of power outages will be observed.
He added that from June 29, 720 megawatts power plant has been made operational. He further confirmed that after the operations of new mega projects, the issue of power outages will be resolved next summer.
Power Minister said that the previous government is responsible for the power crisis as the purchase of fuel was delayed which displays the negligence of them. He added that as compared to the last year, coal rates increased.
He blamed Imran Khan for creating obstacles in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). NAB case was logged or else the government was bound to complete the 1,200-megawatt Trimmu Jhang power project in 2020.
On July 30, the record demand for electricity up to 30,000 MW whereas, due to the supply of electricity to the industry, the domestic consumers are suffering from power-related problems.
Khurram Dastagir confirmed that the Tarbela power plant will be producing 3,400 megawatts of electricity on July 7 which reduces loadshedding as in results.
He informed that all buildings under government sector will be moved to solar power gradually. He said that lower rates were provided to those who consumed less than 300 units. Dastgir said that the government was also trying to shift domestic consumers to solar power.
“Prime Minister will announce the solar project in the coming day”, said the Minister.
