PM Imran Khan Approves the Appointment of Ambassadors in World Capital

According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the appointment of Pakistan’s ambassadors to various world capitals on Sunday, including the replacement of foreign office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri.

The prime minister approved the appointment of Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri as a high commissioner in Australia, as the outgoing ambassador will now serve as ambassador to Norway, as per reports.

Outgoing ambassador Shujaat Rathore has been named as the country’s envoy in Spain, while Seljuk Tarar has been appointed as an ambassador in the Netherlands.

Amir Shaukat has been appointed as an ambassador to Switzerland, and Ameer Khurram Rathore has been appointed as a high commissioner in Canada. Raza Bashir, the outgoing Canadian ambassador, was posted at the foreign ministry.

Other changes include the appointment of Ahmed Naseem Waraich as envoy in Portugal, Amjad Ahmed Ali as counsel general in Iraq, and Moazzam Ali as counsel general in Melbourne.

In October 2018, the government announced a significant reshuffle in diplomatic assignments abroad, including the proposed appointments of two career diplomats, Dr Asad Majeed Khan and Nafees Zekria, as Pakistan’s new ambassadors in the United Nations.
