Punjab Govt Made Quran Teaching as Compulsory Subject for upto Intermediate Level

The Holy Quran will now be taught as a required subject from primary through higher secondary, according to a directive from the Punjab School Education Department to all divisional, district, and chief executive officers of the institutions.


The notification was released by Rana Abdul Qayyum Khan, Director of Public Instructions (EE), Punjab.


The announcement states that all public and private schools have already made teaching the Holy Quran a required topic (up to the primary level). The pattern of studies for the teaching of the holy book has now been released by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB).


According to the 2018 Act Amended in 2021, this topic is now required for all levels of courses, i.e., Class-I to XII, in primary, elementary, and higher secondary level schools.
