Ghee and cooking oil costs for the poor have soared by more than Rs. 30 as yet another “gift” of inflation to the populace. Details indicate that the wholesale market has raised the cost of first and third-grade ghee and oil.
First-class cooking oil now costs Rs 26 more per liter, or Rs 130 more for a five-litre package, going from Rs 2520 to Rs 2650. Third-grade ghee’s wholesale market price rose by Rs 31 per kg, but after a total increase of Rs 500, the cost of a 16-kg canister of third-grade ghee rose to Rs 6,500.
