According to sources, the management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) granted the previous chairman Ramiz Raja’s plea for a pension.
Raja increased the former Test cricketers’ pension by PKR 1 lakh while serving as PCB chairman. Raja was prohibited from receiving a pension as chairman under service regulations.
But as soon as the former Test cricketer was fired from his job, he submitted a pension application. Sources now indicate that Raja will begin earning PKR154,000 per month as pension after the current management approved his request.
A government notice states that Raja was fired from his position as PCB chairman just days after the national team suffered its first-ever humiliating 3-0 home Test series whitewash at the hands of England.
