The demand for solar modules has risen dramatically as Pakistan moves toward renewable energy production.
LONGi Solar, a world-leading manufacturer of high-efficiency mono-crystalline solar cells and modules based in China, announced that solar module sales to Pakistan for 2021 have reached 500MWp, with the bulk of the sales going to its Hi-MO 5 series modules, which account for 422MWp of the total (84.4%).
In a tweet, the company said it has secured a range of prominent clients and projects in Pakistan, including a 70MWp order from Reon Energy for Pakistan’s largest commercial solar project to date. This project will be completed in four clusters using Hi-MO 5 540/545Wp modules, with a commercial operating date of Q3 2021.
The Four Brothers Group, which has signed a 68MWp distribution agreement for orders to be completed in Q2 and Q3 2021, NMC Group, and numerous other developers and installers of megawatt-level commercial projects in Pakistan are among LONGi’s prominent clients in the country. The Hi-MO 5 series of modules will be used by several of these developers.
As of 30 June 2020, Pakistan had a total power generation capacity of 38,719MW, with solar PV accounting for 530MW, or 1.36 percent of total power generation capacity.
