During the first 7months of fiscal year 2022-2023, the imports of cell phones recorded Rs93 billion amid challenging economic conditions.
While, the import of on going fiscal year dropped by 57% comparing to Rs217 billion during the same months of the previous fiscal year, as per data shared by PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics).
67% decline has been recorded in the import payment in dollar terms standing at $414.80 million during the current fiscal year while comparing to the previous fiscal year with $1.27 billion.
The decline in import of cell phones may be due to ban imposement by the governing bodies in prior year.
However, the current government imposed total ban on import of luxury and non-essential items in order to support balance of payment.
