Commissioner Karachi Ordered to Close Restaurants in Karachi by 10:00 PM as Energy Crisis Worsens

As the cost of energy increased globally, Commissioner Karachi imposed tough regulations requiring wedding halls and restaurants to close by 10 p.m., further straining Pakistan’s already precarious finances.

Since the country of over 220 million people struggles with a severe energy shortage and the demand for electricity has increased, particularly in the summer, the Sharif-led government has implemented strict controls.

In a recent development, Commissioner Karachi gave all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) new instructions to make sure that restaurants and marriage halls were shut down by 10 p.m.
