’18 Pakistanis have Rs. 4,000 Billion in their Bank Accounts’: Siraj-ul-Haq

The leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, Sirajul Haq, claims to have a list of 18 Pakistanis who have bank accounts holding Rs4,000 billion (USD $15.52 billion), including politicians and military personnel.


He said during a press conference on Monday in Islamabad that “our country’s institutions are powerless to recover money from these people” and urged lawmakers, bureaucrats, judges, and generals to make sacrifices for the sake of the economy.

According to Haq, the administration of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was in office when inflation reached 34.3%. He questioned, “How can a head of a family feed 12 members if the flour is being sold at Rs160 a kg.


He claimed that the authorities were thinking about taxing the populace for Rs 650 billion.
