Massive Earthquake Kills at Least 9 People, Injuries 160 in Pakistan

Late on Tuesday, a powerful earthquake shook areas of South Asian nations, including Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan. At least nine people died and more than 150 were injured.


According to the Pakistan Meteorological Agency, the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan served as the earthquake’s epicenter, while the majority of deaths and injuries were reported in northwest Pakistan or KPK.


Strong earthquakes were detected in major cities, including Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Charsadda, and Rawalpindi, causing alarm among the populace. Earthquakes also struck the regions of Gujranwala, Sialkot, Chakwal, Kohat, and Gilgit-Baltistan.


The 44 persons who were injured in separate incidents totaled 9 fatalities in the northwest, according to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Disaster Management Authority.
