Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Air Marshal Arshad Malik said the national carrier plans to operate direct flights from Karachi to Skardu to encourage tourism.
Following the launch of direct flights from Lahore to Skardu, the national flag carrier plans to launch flights from Lahore to Gilgit as well, according to the PIA CEO.
“PIA also intends to operate direct flights from Karachi to Skardu,” he said, adding that the airline was taking steps to promote tourism.
The first flight, carrying 153 passengers, landed at Skardu airport today, marking the start of direct flights from Lahore to northern areas.
