According to a government’s recent announcement, the Quran translation will soon be required in all Pakistani universities. This choice is intended to advance religious education and motivate pupils to comprehend the Quran’s message.

The government seeks to develop a more spiritually educated public that can better comprehend and appreciate Islam’s teachings by making Quran translation mandatory for universities. Since students from all backgrounds join together to study the Quran and its teachings, this action may also aid in promoting interfaith cooperation and tolerance.
According to the letter issued by HEC, The course will not earn any additional grades or credit hours. In starting of fall 2023, all undergraduate students will be required to take this course.
The selection follows the passage of Senate Resolution No. 533 on January 16, 2023.
However, the decision to make Quran translation mandatory for universities has also been met with some criticism. Some have argued that it is not the role of the government to impose religious education on students and that this should be left up to individuals and families.
