Former Pakistani cricketer, Mohammad Yousuf, recently expressed his admiration for Pakistan’s current captain, Babar Azam, hailing him as one of the world’s top three to four players. Yousuf, who holds the record for scoring the most number of Test runs in a calendar year, believes that Azam has the potential to surpass his feat.
Yousuf’s record of 1788 runs in just 11 matches at an average of 99.33, with nine centuries and three half-centuries, is a remarkable achievement in the world of cricket. However, the former cricketer is eager to see his record broken by a Pakistani player, and he thinks that Babar Azam could be the one to do it.
“Babar Azam’s exceptional performance has made him Pakistan’s finest cricketer in this era,” Yousuf said. “His outstanding global achievements validate his status as a world-class player.”
Indeed, Azam has been in fine form in recent years, having made his debut for Pakistan in 2015. He has since established himself as one of the most consistent batsmen in the world, with an impressive Test average of 48.63 and an ODI average of 59.41
Yousuf is not alone in his admiration for Azam. The 26-year-old has been widely praised for his technique, temperament, and ability to play under pressure. He has been compared to the likes of Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, two of the greatest batsmen of our time.
If Azam continues to perform at the level he has been, there is every chance that he could break Yousuf’s record. With his exceptional abilities on the field, his appetite for runs, and his determination to succeed, Babar Azam could well be the one to surpass Yousuf’s feat and make history for Pakistan.
