Asif Ali Zardari Directs Sindh Energy Department to Install Solar Panels in Every House

Asif Ali Zardari, a former president and parliamentarian for the Pakistan Peoples Party, reportedly gave the Sindh energy department instructions to expand the solarization programme and try to install solar panels in every home in the province so that people could stop paying for expensive electricity and load shedding.

During their Eid meeting, Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh revealed to Dawn that Mr. Zardari requested the expansion of a World Bank plan to solarize more than 200,000 communities around the province. According to his concept, the project would be expanded to include provincial government buildings and establishments, he claimed.

He claimed that Mr. Zardari had instructed him to attempt installing solar power in the province’s urban areas that had been severely affected by load shedding. In order to generate electricity, he said that the province administration was constructing solar parks in Malir and Keamari.

According to the energy minister, he informed Mr. Zardari on the blue economy potential in the energy industry.

He stated that in order to construct floating solar projects in coastal areas, the energy department wanted to collaborate with the Pakistan Institute of Oceanography. “Offshore wind projects and floating solar systems can increase blue economy opportunities through accessible energy,” he continued.
