Fakhar Zaman, the opening batsman for Pakistan, has been named the recipient of the ICC Player of the Month award for April 2023. This prestigious accolade recognizes his exceptional performances during the recent home series against New Zealand.
Despite tough competition from Sri Lanka’s spin maestro Prabath Jayasuriya and emerging New Zealand batsman Mark Chapman, Fakhar Zaman emerged as the deserving winner of the award.
During the series, the 33-year-old left-handed batsman showcased remarkable consistency by scoring consecutive centuries in the first two One Day Internationals (ODIs) between Pakistan and New Zealand. His outstanding displays on the field led him to achieve several individual milestones.
Notably, Fakhar Zaman became not only the fastest batter from Pakistan but also the fastest from Asia to reach 3000 runs in ODIs. Additionally, he joined the prestigious company of Saeed Anwar, Zaheer Abbas, and Babar Azam (twice) as the fourth Pakistani batsman to score three centuries in three consecutive matches.
Fakhar Zaman’s exceptional contributions to the game have earned him well-deserved recognition as the ICC Player of the Month for April 2023. His remarkable achievements in the series against New Zealand have undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the cricketing world.
