Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat said on Wednesday that at least 100 kanals of forest land had been recovered from Shah Allah Ditta, where a ‘strong mafia’ had begun building flats to entice local and overseas Pakistanis via social media projections.
He told APP that the land was reclaimed in a surprise operation by the administration of the Islamabad Capital Territory, the Capital Development Authority, and the police, who also demolished illegal structures in the city.
The operation will continue until the CDA recovered 800 kanals of land in Shah Allah Ditta that it had gained in 1989.
He mentioned that once the operation was finished, the land would be demarcated and fenced.
He said that strong people were behind the encroachment and promised that action would be taken against them once the paperwork was completed.
