22 Pakistani Prisoners Released by India Reach Home

The Indian government has sent back 22 Pakistani prisoners who had finished serving their sentences. The prisoners were repatriated through the Attari-Wagah border with the help of the Border Security Force.

On Friday, they were handed over to the Pakistani Rangers at the border’s Joint Check Post. These prisoners had crossed the border without any travel documents when they were arrested.

To facilitate their return, the Pakistani High Commission in Delhi issued ‘Emergency Travel Certificates’ for them. Among the 22 prisoners, nine were fishermen who were originally detained by the Indian Navy, while ten were from the Amritsar Central Jail and three were from other prisons in India.
