The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, announced that direct flights between Azerbaijan and Sialkot in Pakistan are expected to commence soon. This development is anticipated to strengthen business relations between the two countries. Ambassador Farhadov shared this information during a meeting with Mr. Adnan Jalil, the Minister for Commerce and Industry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in Islamabad.
He further mentioned that weekly flights between Lahore and Baku have already begun and are proving successful in promoting economic and trade ties.
The Ambassador emphasized the significance of Peshawar, a city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as an important trade hub with Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries. He highlighted the cultural and culinary similarities between Peshawar and Azerbaijan, which contribute to the historical connection between the regions.
Ambassador Farhadov expressed his hope for an increase in the number of Pakistani visitors to Azerbaijan in the coming year, building upon the 53,000 visitors in 2022. He pledged to actively promote economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a particular focus on involving the private sector and the Chamber of Commerce.
Minister Adnan Jalil extended an invitation to the Azerbaijani Ambassador to engage with the local business community and discussed the potential for cooperation in various fields such as textiles, agriculture, and industry. He also expressed his intention to lead a trade delegation to Azerbaijan in the near future.
