Tom Cruise is heading to Abu Dhabi for the premiere of Mission Impossible series. The event will take place on June 26 at Emirates Palace, with the movie’s cast and director Christopher McQuarrie gracing the red carpet.
Abu Dhabi, known for being a top film and TV location in the Middle East, is honored to host the premiere. Khalfan Al Mazrouei, expressed his pride in collaborating with the franchise. Moreover, this opportunity further showcases Abu Dhabi’s capability to support large scale productions successfully. Nevertheless, filming for the latest Mission Impossible film occurred over 15 days in 2021. It features captivating locations like the Liwa desert and Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield Terminal.
After over 18 months of filming, McQuarrie took to social media in September 2021 to share his gratitude and admiration for the cast and crew. He highlighted their exceptional talent and relentless dedication, even in challenging circumstances. McQuarrie also extended his appreciation to the people of Abu Dhabi for their hospitality during the filming process.
140 Major Productions in the Past Decade
This marks the third time the Mission Impossible franchise has chosen the UAE as a filming location. The first visit was for Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011, which showcased Cruise’s famous Burj Khalifa scaling stunt. The actor returned to Abu Dhabi for Mission Impossible – Fallout in 2018, where he performed a thrilling Halo jump over the sand dunes. Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One adds to the impressive list of 140 major productions filmed in Abu Dhabi over the past decade. It includes other notable titles like Dune, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Furious 7. Furthermore, the region has also become a favorite for Bollywood hits such as Vikram Vedha, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Bharat.
