Honda has introduced a new program for its used HondaJet aircraft called Certified Pre-Owned (CPO). The program aims to ensure that each aircraft meets Honda’s high standards for quality, safety, and performance. To achieve the CPO designation, the aircraft must undergo a meticulous selection process, rigorous inspection, and expert maintenance.
Once an aircraft receives the CPO designation, it becomes eligible for various services provided by Honda Aircraft Company and its authorized sales network. These services support the entire fleet and include ease of entry into service and post-sales support.
Honda’s decision to launch the CPO program may be a response to the recent shutdown of Jet It, a major player in the fractional operation of HondaJets. While Honda has not addressed any direct connection between the issues faced by Jet It and their CPO operation, the new program offers comprehensive services to aircraft owners. Previously, Honda provided complimentary support to Jet It customers, such as pilot services and parking for a limited period.
With some of Honda’s aircraft already in service for over seven years, focusing on the used market is a logical step for the company. According to Honda, their global fleet of HondaJets has exceeded 230 aircraft with more than 185,000 flight hours.
The CPO program covers two HondaJet models: the original and the Elite II. Both models feature twin GE Honda HF/120 engines mounted on Honda’s unique perched-wing engine mount. The standard passenger capacity ranges from five passengers and two crew members to six passengers and one crew member, depending on the configuration.
For customers interested in the HondaJet 2600 Concept, they will have to wait a few more years as it won’t be available for purchase in the CPO market yet.
Honda’s Certified Pre-Owned assessment involves a thorough 208-point check conducted by Honda-trained professionals at authorized service centers. Additionally, qualifying aircraft will receive upgrades based on relevant service bulletins to enhance their performance.
Amod Kelkar, the chief commercial officer of Honda Aircraft, emphasized the importance of pre-owned aircraft as an entry point into the HondaJet community. The CPO program aims to provide the best ownership experience and peace of mind to all HondaJet owners, regardless of their position in the ownership journey.
