Tesla has finally finished building its first Cybertruck after a two-year delay. The company tweeted a picture showing workers with hard hats around the sleek Cybertruck, which was assembled at Tesla’s Gigafactory near Austin, Texas.
The Cybertruck was first unveiled as a prototype in 2019, and Tesla initially planned to start production in late 2021. However, the truck’s windows broke unexpectedly during a demonstration, causing delays. Tesla CEO Elon Musk explained that challenges in the supply chain were also a reason for the delay.
In 2021, Tesla confirmed that an updated version of the Cybertruck was in progress. They announced plans to begin production in 2023, with full-scale production expected in 2024. The Cybertruck will allow Tesla to compete in the market for electric pickup trucks, where it will face rivals like Rivian’s R1T, the Ford F-150 Lightning, and the GMC Hummer EV pickup.
