Pakistan Introduces Its First WhatsApp-Like Communication App

The Federal Minister for Information Technology, Syed Amin Ul Haque, has introduced ‘Beep Pakistan,’ a homegrown messaging app, in a launch event highlighting the app’s significance for Pakistan’s IT industry.

In its initial 30-day trial phase, ‘Beep Pakistan’ will serve as an internal communication tool between the Ministry of IT and Communication and the National Information Technology Board (NITB). The app will then be introduced to all government departments before being made accessible to the general public across the country.

Minister Haque emphasized that the messaging app is made 100% secure. Its servers and source code are hosted within Pakistan. The app is equipped with a range of features, including data sharing, audio and video calling, and conference calling capabilities.

Syed Amin Ul Haque acknowledged that although neighboring countries have already introduced alternative messaging apps, however, Pakistan is taking a crucial step in the right direction.

Appreciating the efforts of the National Information Technology Board (NITB), Minister Haque expressed pride in the successful development of Pakistan’s WhatsApp alternative.

The creation of the app reflects the country’s steps to strengthen its domestic IT sector and reduce reliance on foreign platforms.
