Pakistan Announces Squad for Afghanistan Series and Asia Cup

Pakistani is to travel to Sri Lanka to play against Afghanistan in three ODI series from the 22nd to the 26th of August. Inzamam-ul-Haq has announced the squad consisting of 18 players for the Afghanistan series and 17 players for the Asia Cup to begin on 30th August.

Openers: Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, and Fakhar Zaman.

Middle order: Babar Azam, Salman Ali Agha, Tayyab Tahir, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Saud Shakeel (only for Afghanistan series).

Spinners: Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Usama Mir, and Mohammad Nawaz.

Wicketkeepers: Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Rizwan.

Pace all-rounder: Faheem Ashraf

Pacers: Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim, and Shaheen Afridi.

Faheem Ashraf, Tayyab Tahir, and Saud Shakeel are included in the squad for the Afghanistan series. Faheem has returned to the ground after a gap of two years, while Tayyab has earned his second ODI call-up, recognized for his performance in Pakistan Cup 2022-23.

The team will convene in Hambantota on the 18th of August. Ahead of departure, a three-day training camp will be held at Lahore’s National Cricket Academy on August 14-16.
