In July, Pakistan sold meat and meat products for $34,866,000, which is higher compared to $25,409,000 in the same time last year, showing a growth of 37.22%. They exported 8,910 metric tons of meat.
In the financial year 2022-2023, Pakistan exported meat and meat preparations worth $426,708,000, up from $341,006,000 in the previous year, a rise of 25.13%. Major buyers were the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain.
Bilal Tata, from the All Pakistan Meat Exporters & Processors Association, said the growth happened because Pakistan’s products became more competitive internationally due to the lower currency value and more demand from countries like GCC and new markets like Jordan and Uzbekistan after the global economy improved.
Pakistan has a big opportunity to grow the meat industry since they have lots of livestock. Making the process of getting meat from animals more efficient will also help them export more and make more money.
One important kind of meat they sell is beef. In 2020, they made around $300 million from selling meat, and most of it was from beef. China is becoming a new place to sell Pakistani meat. A company called Tata Best Foods Ltd is planning to send meat to China. The owner, Bilal Tata, said they are working to meet the rules about making sure the meat is safe and healthy in both China and Pakistan.
The government of Pakistan is helping the meat industry by making it easier to export, improving things like roads and buildings, and giving support to companies that sell meat. There is a chance to share technology and work together with China to make special meat products for their market.
