Cess collection has increased by nearly 580 percent at KPRA

In the current fiscal year, the Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC) collection by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) increased by 580 percent.

From July 1, 2020 to June 19, 2021, the Authority collected about Rs1,330 million in Infrastructure Development Cess, compared to Rs194 million the previous year. According to the numbers, the KPRA boosted its IDC collected by about sixfold in the current fiscal year.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has targeted the Authority with generating Rs1,300 million through IDC in the current fiscal year, according to details supplied by the Authority, and KPRA has successfully collected around 1,330 million as of June 19, 2021.

KPRA collects IDC from vehicles entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through Pakistan Customs at border checkpoints in Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, and Angoor Ada. Because of the volume of traffic using the route, the majority of the IDC is collected at the Torkham border.

The DG KPRA thanked Pakistan Customs for assisting KPRA in meeting the target and increasing revenue collection in the IDC. “Our goal is to enhance tax collection and strengthen the government financially so that it can spend on public uplift initiatives and deliver better services to the people,” he explained.
