Pakistani Athletes Shine at 19th Asian Games Hangzhou

Pakistani athletes are making their nation proud of their outstanding performances at the ongoing 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. These athletes have shown their talent, determination and resilience as they are making efforts to surpass Pakistan’s medal tally at the Asian Games.

The Asian Games is a prestigious multi-sport event featuring athletes from across the continent. Pakistan has sent a strong contingent of athletes to compete in various disciplines including archery, shooting and athletics at this year’s Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Archer Israr ul Haq shattered his national record in the Men’s Recurve 72 Arrow 70m Ranking Round with an impressive score of 634, just short of the required 640 to secure a spot in the Olympic Games. Talented Israr ul Haq expressed his satisfaction with his performance and vowed to enhance his game through hard work. He acknowledged that participating in the Asian Games provided him with valuable learning opportunities and he is determined to improve his performance.

Archer Mohammad Nadeem and Idris Majeed, teammates of Israr ul Haq, also delivered outstanding performances in the Men’s Recurve 72 Arrow 70m Ranking Round. Muhammad Nadeem set a personal best of 596 while Idris Majeed also reached a personal milestone of 594.

The shooting team also produced a commendable performance with Kashmala Talat winning bronze as Pakistan’s first ever female shooter. Kashmala’s accuracy and precision in shooting demonstrated the potential of Pakistani athletes in this discipline.

Kashmala had the chance to explore the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, which houses a range of top-notch sports facilities, including a stadium, swimming pool, and gymnasiums. The athlete was particularly impressed by the modern infrastructure and the meticulous attention to detail in the design and maintenance of these facilities.

Recognizing the potential for cultural exchange and mutual growth, she expressed her desire to see more collaboration and friendly competitions between athletes from both China and Pakistan.

In athletics, Pakistani sprinter Tameen Khan emerged as a star performer, winning the gold medal in the 100 meters in the athletic national championship 2022 and national games 2023. In her first international competition, the Asian Games in Hangzhou, she is looking forward to earning her recognition on the international stage, while also highlighting the potential of Pakistani athletes in track and field events.

With more competitions in the pipeline, Pakistani badminton player Mahoor Shahzad has expressed strong confidence that they would win glory for their country.
