India Beats Australia in World Cup Match

India began their World Cup campaign on a high note with a convincing victory against Australia at Chepauk on Sunday. The Indian bowlers played a crucial role in restricting Australia to a total of 199 runs in the first innings. Then, Virat Kohli, scoring 85 runs, and KL Rahul, with an unbeaten 97, joined forces to guide India to victory in just 41.2 overs.

The standout performance came from Kohli and Rahul, who formed a partnership of over 150 runs. This partnership was pivotal as India found themselves in deep trouble early in the game, losing three wickets with only 2 runs on the scoreboard. Captain Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer were all dismissed cheaply.

In the lead-up to the match, Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. Shubman Gill’s absence from the Indian side led to Ishan Kishan stepping in as the opener. This match marked the first appearance in the tournament for both teams, and both were determined to begin with a victory.
