Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian cricketer, shared his thoughts on Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, and his recent cricket performances during an interview with Star Sports.
Gambhir criticized Babar’s performance in the World Cup, pointing out that he hasn’t made any significant contributions in the tournament.
According to Gambhir, “Babar Azam hasn’t played any match-winning innings. The true top player is the one who helps the team win.”
Gambhir also pointed out that Pakistan needs to improve their fitness, particularly in fielding, as it lags behind other teams.
Despite scoring three half-centuries in the tournament, Babar’s overall performance has been under scrutiny. In six matches, he has scored 207 runs at an average of 34.50, with a strike rate of 79, which is considered below par for a player of his caliber.
This World Cup is noteworthy as it marks the first time Pakistan has suffered four consecutive defeats.
