Selena Khawaja, a 12-year-old Pakistani mountaineer, has started out on a journey to climb Broad Peak, the world’s twelfth highest peak.
The young child has arrived in Skardu with her father to tackle the peak. If she succeeds, she will be the world’s youngest person to reach an 8,000-meter peak.
Selena exuded confidence, saying, “Inshallah, I will scale Broad Peak.”
The mountain, which is part of the Karakoram range on the Pakistan-China border, is the world’s twelfth highest at 8,047 metres (26,401 feet) above sea level.
Selena Khawaja, an Abbottabad native, has scaled a variety of peaks of varied heights.
In District Shigar, she has climbed Quz Sar 5,765m, Mingling Sar 6,050m, Wilyo Sar 6,150m, and Spantik Peak 7,027m.
Shehroze Kashif, a Pakistani mountaineer, became the youngest Pakistani to reach the peak of Mount Everest in May. At the age of 19, he accomplished the incredible achievement of climbing Mount Everest (8,849 metres), the world’s highest mountain.
