A 39-Yr-Old Becomes First Visually Impaired Master of Broadcasting in China

A 39-year-old female, Dong Lina is a visually impaired master of broadcasting in China. Lina is the first woman with visual impairment to achieve this status after graduating in the summer.

Dong Lina’s story about struggling to be enrolled in a Chinese University by appearing in a self-study exam went viral on the internet in 2011. The story made the Chinese authorities make amendments to the regulations of the education of disabled people.

According to the modifications, disabled students will be provided with assistance during the exams like exam papers in braille specifically for blind students. China has also made academic access convenient for children with disabilities by prohibiting the examination authorities from excluding them at national level exams owing to their mental or physical challenges.

China has made significant improvements in supporting education access to disabled individuals, increased employment opportunities, and welfare services. The story of Dong Lina is a testament to the country’s efforts to empower the nation without any discrimination.
