A 45% Rise in Mobile Phone Imports During July-Nov FY21 Recorded by Pakistan

During July-November (2020-21), Pakistan imported cell phones worth $724.85 million compared to $498.463 million in July-November (2019-20), which showed a rise of 45.26, as per the data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

During the period under review, total Telecom Imports into the Country increased by 31.32 percent, rising from $682.762 million in 2019-20 to $896.597 million during the current fiscal year.

Imports of cell phones to Pakistan increased by 50.04% on a year-on-year basis in November 2020, compared to imports in the same month of last year.

During November 2020, cell phone imports were registered at $166.124 million compared to imports of $110.723 million during November 2019, the PBS data showed.

Cell phone imports rose on a month-on-month basis by 155.30 percent in November 2020, compared to imports of $65,069 million in October 2020.

Overall telecommunication imports into Pakistan increased year-on-year by 38.81% in November 2020, compared to imports in November of last year.

Telecom imports were registered at $204.953 million during November 2020 compared to imports of $147.648 million during November 2019.

Total telecom imports rose by 102.14 percent on a month-on-month basis in November 2020, compared to imports of $101,390 million in October 2020. Other machinery imports decreased by 6.39 percent during July-November, from $184.596 million in 2019-20 to $172.512 million during the current fiscal year.
