OpenAI has announced a groundbreaking new feature for ChatGPT called Pulse, which the company says will change the way users interact with the AI tool. Initially available only for ChatGPT Pro users on the mobile app, Pulse is designed to make the chatbot function more like a dynamic personal assistant rather than a standard conversational tool.
According to OpenAI, Pulse will take into account a user’s chats, history, feedback, and even connected apps such as Google Calendar. Instead of providing general responses, the AI will offer more personalized details, insights, and reminders. The feature will also present information in the form of interactive visual cards that users can scan or expand for more details.
Each user will receive one “Pulse” update daily, summarizing key points from recent interactions, schedules, and linked applications. To achieve this, Pulse will also utilize ChatGPT’s Connections feature, enabling it to link with Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Calendar. OpenAI emphasized that multiple safety tools will be used within Pulse to prevent harmful or unsafe content from appearing.
The company stressed that this is just the beginning of a broader shift for ChatGPT — from being a chatbot to becoming an active digital assistant. While the first rollout includes email and calendar connectivity, future versions will integrate more data streams, allowing ChatGPT to play a bigger role in everyday productivity. OpenAI has confirmed that although the feature is currently limited to Pro users, it will gradually be made available to a wider audience in the near future.
