Abu Dhabi is using green technology to make its beaches more accessible for wheelchair users.
They teamed up with Mubadala, the emirate’s investment arm, to install remote control-operated ramps designed by a Greek company called Seatrac.
These solar-powered tracks have a chair that helps people with disabilities go from the beach to the water independently.
Users can use the ramp’s rails to lower themselves into the sea and lift back into the chair. This innovative device is already in use at over 200 beaches in Greece.
