Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced that it will resume direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi starting January 29. This will restore a direct air link between the two cities after a gap of more than ten years. The airline last operated regular flights on this route in 2012.
The new service will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights will leave Dhaka in the evening and reach Karachi in about three hours. The return flights will depart from Karachi around midnight and arrive in Dhaka early in the morning, before sunrise. This schedule is expected to be convenient for passengers traveling for business, family visits, or tourism.
The decision to restart these flights comes at a time when relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan have been improving. These positive developments followed political changes in Dhaka in 2024, which helped create a more favorable environment for cooperation between the two countries. The resumption of direct flights is seen as an important step toward strengthening people-to-people contacts, trade, and travel between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
