After Sindh, Punjab Govt Announces Strict Traffic Violation Fines; Here’s Fine List!

Following Sindh’s lead, the Punjab government has rolled out a new set of strict traffic rules aimed at curbing road violations and improving safety. The regulations, recently approved by the provincial cabinet, come with hefty fines and potential license suspensions for drivers who fail to follow the rules.

According to the traffic police summary, the updated system targets 25 common traffic offenses. Each violation carries a fine ranging from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 20,000, depending on the severity. In addition, drivers will face point deductions for every offense. Accumulating 20 points or more within a year could result in a license suspension lasting from two months to one year.

Some key offenses and penalties include:

  • Overspeeding: Rs. 2000–Rs. 20,000 fine plus 4 points deducted.
  • Running a Red Light: Rs. 2000–Rs. 15,000 fine, 4 points deducted.
  • Overloading Vehicles: Rs. 2000–Rs. 15,000 fine with a 4-point deduction.
  • One-way Violations: Rs. 2000–Rs. 15,000 fine, 4 points deducted.
  • Reckless Driving: Rs. 3000–Rs. 15,000 fine and 4 points deducted.
  • Excessive Horn Use: Rs. 2000–Rs. 10,000 fine, 2 points deducted.

The government hopes these measures will make drivers more cautious and disciplined on the roads. Officials have stressed that strict enforcement of these rules will begin soon and motorists are urged to follow traffic laws to avoid fines and license penalties.

With these changes, Punjab joins other provinces in cracking down on traffic violations, signaling a clear message: responsible driving is no longer optional.
