Airline Ticket Prices to Increase Massively as Govt Imposed Excise Duty up to Rs. 350,000

The federal government has increased excise duties on business and club class air tickets for several international destinations starting July 1, as part of the approved budget for the fiscal year 2024-25.

For flights to the USA, North America, Latin America, and Canada, the duties have been raised from Rs250,000 to Rs350,000. This is a significant increase of Rs100,000. Similarly, tickets to European destinations now have duties of Rs210,000, up from the previous Rs150,000, marking a rise of Rs60,000.

Flights to New Zealand, Australia, China, Malaysia, and Indonesia are also affected, with duties increasing by Rs60,000 to a new total of Rs210,000.

Additionally, the duties for flights to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the Middle East, and African nations have gone up as well. They have been raised from Rs75,000 to Rs105,000, showing an increase of Rs30,000.
