Al Startup Jams, Co-Founded by Pakistani Engineers, Acquired by OpenAl

A major development has taken place in the global tech world as OpenAI, the company famous for creating ChatGPT, has acquired the Pakistani generative AI startup Jams.

The company was founded by two former Meta engineers, Asad Awan and Hamza Aftab, who set out to build advanced tools for creating realistic video content through artificial intelligence.

Jams gained attention early on for its unique technology and strong engineering team. The startup also secured investment from well-known firms such as Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Indus Valley Capital (IVC).

With this acquisition, IVC has now celebrated its first successful exit, a milestone that reflects the increasing influence of Pakistani startups in global technology markets.

According to co-founder Asad Awan, joining OpenAI will give their team access to world-class research, resources, and some of the most experienced AI experts in the industry.

He shared that this new chapter will help them push their ideas further and work on technology that can reach a much larger audience.

For Pakistan’s technology ecosystem, this deal is being seen as a proud moment. It demonstrates that Pakistani entrepreneurs and engineers are not only participating in the global AI revolution but also contributing to breakthrough innovations.

Industry experts say that the acquisition highlights the potential of Pakistani talent in high-growth fields, especially in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and creative automation.
