Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, recently paid a visit to a school in mainland China after refraining from doing so for several months due to the country’s government’s crackdown on the influential tech industry.
He is said to have been outside of China for more than a year starting in late 2021, when Chinese officials intensified monitoring of his firms as a result of the internet entrepreneur’s vocal criticism.
Ma went to the Yungu school in Hangzhou, a city in eastern China and home to Alibaba. Photos and a video of Ma viewing the Alibaba-funded school were posted via social media.
The millionaire was one of China’s most well-known business leaders, but after criticising regulators, autocratic Chinese overlords gave him a harsh reprimand.
